Israeli Dancing

Israeli folk dancing has come to life in the last century with the rebirth of the modern State of Israel in 1948, and is a way of celebrating the spirit of the new country. Israeli dance encompasses elements from all over the world, just like the people in the land, including and influenced by dances from Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Country Western, modern ballet, salsa, hip-hop and more. New dances are continuously created and introduced. The movements themselves are quite varied, and most of the dances are associated with a specific piece of music and often its lyrics.

Dance classes are open to anyone who wants to have fun and exercise! We offer Classic and New Dances for group, line, and partners. All are welcome, beginner and intermediate. Classes are held weekly on Tuesdays, 7:00-9:30 p.m. at Congregation B'nai Israel, 3600 Riverside Blvd. Sacramento 95818 (in the sanctuary building farthest from the parking lot entrance). $5 suggested per session donation to the Jewish Federation of the Sacramento Region.
